Using a completely different colour palette to my previous development over the last year I have created felt which I believe interprets the textures and colours of lichens well. I have also managed to achieve depth and texture within my felt through the use of stitching however, unlike the failure of the previous felts – see REFLECTION : Enhancing Depth and Texture within Felt. The circular visual of my stitching has pulled the felt together in these areas and created depth, texture and growths within my flat surface of the felt. The amount of stitches within each growth has added to the depth of the lichen interpretations, as the over saturation of the stitches appears to replicate some of the natural development of the lichens themselves. The felt has developed a sense of nostalgia within me as it makes me feel safe and happy, reminding me of being a child and collecting ‘cool’ things from the garden.
