Lichen and Growth Studies

The lichens and growths pictured have been collected around the campus, and scanned into the computer to truly capture the immense detail and texture of these natural organisms. The variation in the green hues are really interesting, as are the lichens which have grown off of their host, creating beautiful textures that you can feel entirely in the palm of your hand. The mosses pictured are also extremely textured although they do not technically qualify as lichens as they do not have a ‘thallus’ protruding from the growth. They are additionally influential on my research of natural textures and therefore I will be drawing on the last three posts to influence the future of my artistic practice this term.
