Development – 2

I seem to have subconsciously favoured the aesthetic of the river imposed into the image – along with the yellow leaves. The inclusion of more rocks creating a synthetic wall across the bottom of the collage almost inhibits the development of depth in this image although the river claws it back slightly. The river almost looks like its source is from within the dark mark made by oil paint which I think creates a sense of mystery about the river in particular. The multiple layers of the branches spanning the top of the collage creates enough depth to hint at a horizon, mainly due to the blurred state of some branches and the focused state of others. I have chosen this collage to go further in my art in the coming weeks along with the projection experiments and may choose it for the end of term submission. I am happy with the outcome as it looks like an immersive landscape, although just over a rock wall.
